Mohammed Khawaja (MJ) brings a unique and exciting blend of dairy science and breeding expertise, complemented by his experience as a herdsperson, to the Waikato Milking Systems brand.

Hailing from Pakistan's capital city of Islamabad, MJ moved to America to further his education in the dairy industry. Attending South Dakota State University, Mohammed completed his bachelor's in Dairy Science, where he was exposed to different ideas and processes used in the dairy industry. During his tenure at the university, MJ worked on the campus dairy farm of 200 cows as well as the campus dairy plant, where he learned the processes in making several different dairy products.

After completing his bachelor's in Dairy Science, Mohammed moved into a herdsperson role, working with 2,000 cows at MJ & MC Thomasson Farms Ltd. Following three years with the UK based farming company, and after advancing to a herd manager role, MJ moved on. Next, he joined Cogent Breeding Ltd as a breeding specialist, working with the English company for another three years before accepting his new role with Waikato Milking Systems.

Mohammed expressed enthusiasm about his transition, mentioning that he was looking forward to the challenge the role brings and the different aspects in which he has less experience. ‘I was more focused on the cow health side of things before, and with this job, I will have plenty to learn with the product and technology understanding required.’

Having a strong understanding of milking and cow health, MJ outlined his desire to work for Waikato Milking Systems. He explained, ‘I chose to work for this company because I felt it was a good opportunity to learn and expand my knowledge and connections within the dairy industry. Waikato Milking Systems has high-quality equipment, so the decision to work here wasn’t very difficult.’

Mohammed's passion for the dairy industry is prominent as he stated his goals and approach to life at Waikato Milking Systems. When talking about the job role itself, MJ said, ‘I'm looking forward to increasing the company's name in the UK by getting more dealerships and clients.’ He outlined his approach, putting emphasis on aspects such as trust and delivering on promises. ‘My approach will be to build trust with the dealers and deliver on the promises I make. I will also look to get to know them on a personal level so I can cater to their needs accordingly.’
